Obamacare premiums soar as insurers seek lower-cost plans
More than 70 percent of the insurers participating in the government-run marketplace are refusing to offer coverage to anyone who has a pre-existing condition, and many of those insurers have said they’re leaving the exchange as soon as they can.
The Trump administration has been pushing the idea that people who are sick or injured, or have serious illnesses, should be able to buy coverage without worrying about their coverage costs.
It also has been lobbying to give more people the option of purchasing health insurance through the federal marketplace, rather than through the state-run exchanges.
On Thursday, the White House said it will work with state officials to help with the process, and urged people to shop around.
