Insurance industry size and health and life insurance conferences
Insurers’ plans for 2016 are shaping up to be more than just a continuation of the business of insurance.
They are also shaping up as the biggest annual conferences in the insurance industry, with hundreds of industry leaders and analysts expected to participate.
The Insurance Industry Association, which represents major insurers, is scheduled to hold its first major event this month, but it is expected to bring in far more industry leaders than the industry trade show that it hosted in late July.
The association said the event is expected have an attendance of about 1,000 people, while the industry conference will have more than 200,000 attendees, according to an email to The Associated Press.
It said it will also include events for representatives of insurers and the insurers themselves, including panel discussions on the economics of health care and on ways to improve coverage.
More than 40 major insurance companies are participating in the conference, according the email.
Insurers are not required to pay for the cost of the event, but they do have to share information about the conference with insurers.
