Trump: ‘If You See Me, You Are Next’
President Donald Trump is urging American taxpayers to pay for a headhunter’s insurance policy that covers a deadly assault on a man with a knife who tried to steal his motorcycle last year.
Trump on Wednesday told reporters that if someone tries to do something like that, you’re next.
He said the policies will be sold through the government insurance exchange, not through the private sector, which would be more expensive.
“If you see me, you are next.
I guarantee it,” Trump said.
“It’s very simple.
If you want to do it, go to the government, go through the exchange, you can buy it from the government.
That way you’re going to pay less.
It’s the same thing.
And that way, you have the best policy, and it’s not going to cost you a dime.”
Trump was referring to the Federal Employees Retirement System’s (FERS) Headhunter Insurance Policy, which covers the death of a person who attempts to rob an automobile or a motorcyclist who is attacked.
“You know, we’re not going into the private market,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday.
“I think that it would be a very good thing for the people to have the option to buy their own headhunter.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
You know, it’s a great policy.
I think that you should have it.
It will save lives.
And I think we’ll be having it soon.”
The policy was developed by FERS, which has more than 500,000 employees.
Trump’s comments come as FERS has been under fire for failing to adequately respond to the 2016 killing of two former police officers in Dallas, Texas.
Trump has repeatedly called for a “complete shutdown” of the federal government and a “total shutdown” on all federal agencies until FERS answers questions about the Dallas killings.
“We need to get back to the business of our country,” Trump added.
“The reason we’re having these debates, the reason we are having these crises is because we need to keep our country safe.”
The headhunter policy is available through the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERSA), which is a federal government agency.
According to a White House press release, the policy covers the costs of “an individual who is injured, injured in the line of duty or has been murdered by a federal employee or their spouse or former spouse or civil partner.”
The agency says the policy “provides protection from the loss of life and property” and covers “all losses due to personal injuries or death, personal property damage, and medical expenses resulting from the incident.”
FERSA is a part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Trump also said Wednesday that FERSCO has to “keep going” in order to keep the government solvent.
“Now, the question is: Will they keep going?”
Trump asked reporters.
“That’s the only question that needs to be asked.
They have to keep going.
They can’t just be shut down.
They’ve been shut down before, they can’t do it again.”
